Richard Miles

Richard Miles co-founded the Cade Museum and has been Vice President of the Board of Directors since September 2010.
Mr. Miles is a Senior Fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington D.C. A career Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State from 1993-2009, Mr. Miles served in various jobs domestically and overseas. His assignments included a Provincial Reconstruction Team in Iraq, the staff of the National Security Council (NSC) at the White House, and postings in Argentina, Germany, and Barbados. During the 2016 presidential campaign Mr. Miles served as a policy advisor to Governor Jeb Bush.
Before entering the Foreign Service, Mr. Miles was an intelligence officer in the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment (ACR) stationed in Nuremberg, Germany from 1988-1991. With the 2nd ACR, he also participated in Operation Desert Shield in Saudi Arabia and in combat operations in Kuwait and Iraq during Operation Desert Storm.
Mr. Miles received a B.A. in Russian Studies from the University of Washington in 1987, and an M.S. in Foreign Service from Georgetown University in 1993. A second generation Mexican-American, he is fluent in Spanish and also speaks German. He is married to Phoebe Cade Miles, and they have three adult children and one granddaughter.
